Hi, hopefully this is okay to post here. Please move if not.

I just purchased a Japanese market 2013 b180 sport night for my wife as a grocery getter. However, having trouble figuring out something in the boot.

It has the sliding forward and aft rear seats which I believe is part of the easy vario plus system
However, in the boot at the base of the back of the rear seat bench there is a long rectangular box thingy that stands about 3 or four inches high and maybe 4-5 inches wide and extends most of the width of the boot. The box seems to be a plastic cover over some metal components underneath. I am
not sure what this is or how to operate/open it. Can’t find it in the user’s manual either. Any help with what this is?

Much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply!
There is an extending cargo cover that fits higher up above the cargo space. This box which I’m referring to is on the floor of the boot at the base of the rear seat back.

Doesn’t sound ‘standard’, as above can you post a pic?

I have something similar in my s211, mb call it a variobox - if you fold down the rear seats access is gained

You refer to it as a box but describe like an upturned box - as in a cover over some metal components. So is it just some plastic trim to stop fingers being mashed by some sort of mechanism - pictures would speak a thousand words

Yes i know exactly what your on about i have the same on my B180 sport. i was also wondering what it was. my thoughts are that it brings the same level that the seats are at (folded) to the boot space instead of having a lip on the leather seats. so basically like making a metal lip before the seat lip so that it can protect the leather seats when folded. other than that i have no clue besides hiding mechanisms! let me know if you discover anything.
