Mercedes a class A180 CDI 64 reg
Hi I’m new to this and not sure If I’m posting in the right place but ....

I have a A class A180 CDI, 64 plate I only bought the car in summer and since winter I have had a puddle in the back footwell, which has made my car absolutely stink! Iv taken it to 2 garages and they don’t know where the water is getting in. I think it is getting to the electrics too as almost every light on my dash is on, but the garage checked what the lights were warning and there was nothing wrong, for example the glow plugs. Could anybody help that has had this problem with a 64 plate?! And how did you solve it please

Hey Amy, welcome. This forum seems to go into a lot of detail (360 posts)

https://www.aclassclub.co.uk/threads/water-in-rear-passenger-footwell.1591/

It seems a common problem with this model and Mercedes is aware of the problem.

Where did you buy the car from?

thank you for replying! I bought the car from a car dealership, I got 6 months warranty with it but it wasn’t covered for that it was just covered for mechanical. I have rang Mercedes Blackburn which is my nearest one and they said they know nothing about the problem

Yeah very typical! It sounds like it’s the vent underneath the bumper, and also sounds like the carpet is a pain to get out and dry and back in, not sure what to do it’s probably going to cost a lot of money I feel really gutted as it took a very long time to save up for the car I wanted

A good, local garage should be able to help out with this. The DIY posted by blobcat is good and should help them if they’re stuck. Mercedes will probably be a waste
of time. Rejecting most goodwill at the moment due to covid. Was there an official recall for it?

On a side note, Honestly amazed at the content you can find online now-a-days with regards to helping you out. Always grateful for those that make the effort to put DIY etc posts together and it is to purely help others. As I always say to my friends (programmers are terrible for this) if you turn to forums for help, you should also contribute!

Someone on here must know of a reliable indie near Blackburn that can do this job without it costing a fortune? Too far north for me to recommend anyone though!
