Hi All.
Can anyone tell me where to find the OVR on my 97 C180 Classic.
I have had much help from the forum members but despite the good advise, i cannot find the offending item.
I have consulted haynes which states the ovr is in the main fuse box, other members say it is in the engine management unit, or screwed to the bulk head.(The handbook doesn't say)
I believe it is a tall'ish silver colour with a fuse on top? could my model be different from this description? there are several black, small relays in the main fuse box, but how would i know which it may be.
All help and advise greatly appreciated.
Regards Geoff.

Hi Malcolm. Thanks for that, although you have already advised me of the site. I just do not seem able to locate it! Do you think it could be hidden away, not in the fuse box or the management system box?
Regards Geoff.

Hi geoff, its clearly shown Item 128 the arrow in the box points exactly where it is, sorry I do not have any more info, double check that you are using the correct first 6 numbers of the VIN.

remember the Russian site refers to LHD vehicles

so the diagram is correct for my LHD 280, but reversed for your RHD 200. It is a tallish silver relay, with any number of coloured plastic tops and a clear holder for a fuse. If you think it is defintely u/s go to MB, buy another, and then go looking for it with the new one as your visual cue.

You would think at my age I could have worked that out, but never gave that a thought, but that does explain why the steering wheel is in the wrong place on my car.
Thanks Myros for that, I will go away and hide for the rest of the day.

Hi all.
Spent two hours yesterday trying to find the OVR! I really dont think it exists on my car! I am confident of what it looks like and i have looked in all the suggested places but there is definately nothing which matches up to it.
I am so baffled with this i have booked the car into a local indie so hopefully i will be able to clear up this mystery soon. Will report back with results.
Regards Geoff.

When some of the cars dont have an OVR, how do they have over voltage protection?

Good question mate! I am baffled by my apparant lack of an OVR, I'm no idiot when it comes to motors, but this is my first Merc, so i am treading softly!
My C 180 has gone in to the pros so i will let you know the answer to your question later.
Regards Geoff.
