Hi all

Once again seeking your wisdom, in the next week or so I regretably have to sell my cherished Ruby Red Metallic first reg 13th June 1996 N Reg, (mainly due to my wide refusing to drive it) so one of the last great W124 E300 diesel estates, 148000 miles, it has a pretty comprehensive stamped up merc history with 12 stamps, plus bills for relacement of both front window lift mechanisms, (2004) new battery (Jan 2008), (plus a few others) It has 7 seats, merc alloys, 2 former keepers before me, blue cloth interior (slight wear on driver bolster) remote factory fitted central locking, (with LED's in driver door and tailgate) 2 working remotes, working external temp sensor, working headlamp washers, Kenwood Radio Cassette, I've just replaced the tailgate washer hose (thanks to this forum!) fitted a new electric ariel. Condition wise, not new! But generally very good throughout, driver seat as above, paint bubbling behind n/s/f wheel, crack on n/s/r bumper corner and shallow dent in panel above, hence wifes refusal to drive (quoted £300 locally to sort) plus scratch on n/s/f lower bumper plastic, best assume aircon will need regass (but I am investigating!)

Any thoughts on it's value or serious offers (can email pictures) and you're welcome to view in Northampton, thanks for looking!

Ebay will dictate its value, loads of text!!!!, great pics and 10 day listing. £3800 should cover it.

Well I reckon it's worth £2500-£3000 but will have a peep at piston heads too, thanks!

Pistonheads is a great site for enthusiast-owned cars and you can be sure the ad will attract genuinely interested buyers. I sold my Saab and TVR very successfully on Pistonheads.

I put my W210 1997 230 Elegance 7-seater estate on eBay a few weeks ago and it was quite a roller coaster ride! The top bidder (£1300) proved to be a timewaster, with no contact or payment. Sold it to the next highest bidder for a shade under £1100. It had an ABS fault and was very, very rusty, although it ran fine and had long test and tax.

Like most eBay auctions, bidding can be a a bit last minute and nerve-wracking. You will have to be brutally open about any faults or issues - I was, but was still amazed not to get a single viewing or any bidder's questions.

I would commit to one site or another, not try and sell it via several websites - it can be frustrating to search for a car only to see it withdrawn or mysteriously unavailable - the "I reserve the right to withdraw from eBay auction" works both ways!

I was really sorry to see mine go after I'd polished and fixed a few things...

Good luck
