Please help, I've recently bought a 311 with 187,000 miles and it will not start, even with easy start! It has recently had fitted, a new low pressure diesel pump, fuel filter and fuel pipe(the one connected to the valve on top of the filter)and new glow plugs, I've read other threads regarding injectors but if it was injectors would'nt it start on sniff? The glow plug light does not light up on start up but I have been informed that the bulb has probably gone and that voltage is present in the glow plugs at start up. It does'nt smoke white when I've had it running and goes like a stallion ;) any ideas? Battery run flat at the moment due to all attempts to start the damn thing.
Also what Ah should battery be? Just got rid of a VW LT35(nightmare) which had a 92Ah battery, sprinter has 62 Ah which can't be right, surely, even though it looks quite big as far as van batteries go. I dont have a manual so I cant check up on most servicable things but will be paying ebay a visit for that.
Any Help or guidance would be much appreciated, Graham

100 ah battery. If it does not even try to fire on sniff then it is not fuel, or related stuff, hp pumps etc. Take the oil filler cap off and crank it, is the chain turning? manuals? What is it you actually want, an owners manual as comes with the vehilce? As ever with posts like this if we dont get enough information then they cannot be answered correctly, information is the clue to getting lots of replies.

I know it seems alot to take on board (first thread) but not sure about a lot of things but most importantly, van not starting even on sniff. Could it be the common rail pressure sensor? Will wait for cold snap to go and take van to diesel specialist will post diagnosis. Bought the van cheap, but it does look like it has been looked after. Bodywork very good, test drove very well, no smoke, strong pull when in accelaration. It even pulled up the M62(big 5 mile long hill) from Rochdale to saddleworth moor at 80mph which I thougt was awesome. Have managed to get a manual so can check through some things. But will keep posting info as and when I can.
