help needed for new owner of 1990 300d

I have just bought a 1990 300d and never having owned a Mercedes before I having a silly problem.
Which is I lifted the single wiper blade to clean the car, blade stayed up at a slight angle, but I can not return to the correct postion,what am I doing wrong, the owners booklet does tell me how to fix the problem.
please help.

What do you mean you can't return to correct position? Does it not go back down or does it go down but slightly higher up than it was before?

If a) then just push with a bit of more strength, they're quite stiff sometimes.
If b) then try switching the wiper on and it should go back to the rest position which is slightly recessed under the bonnet.
