Hi I have bought an Alpine CDA9830R and a steering wheel satellite remote control interface but I'm having problems fitting it. The car is a 2001 CLK200K but i dont seem to be able to find a switched live at the ISO block connector. can anyone please advise as to which wires do what job. The colours at the car end of the ISO are RED +BLACK. BLACK. BLUE AND A GREEN +RED, which one is which is one question, the other question is what colur wires do i use to link my satellite remote to.

any information would be greatly appreciated.

iso plugs have been an industry standard for a few years
it should plug straight in

are you finding that you lose all memory settings after ignition is switched off for about 30secs?

if so then on your head unit wiring loom you should be able to swap the permanent live and the ignition live. (two of the leads should be on bullet connectors for easy disconnecting) usually a red wire and a yellow one just pull them out of the bullet connectors and swap them round
so you have red going to yellow, and vice versa

alpine are a japanese company jap cars work the other way round

heres a question for you did the original stereo switch off when you turned the ignition off???

if no then you don't have an ignition feed in this case red and yellow wires need to be soldered together and connected to the permanent feed but this is rare for such a new car.

wires found on on iso should be

live
ignition live
earth
dimmer
power antenna(if you have one)

hope this helps let me know how you get on

Thanks Moto,
the problem with the ISO within my CLK200k is that Mercedes in there wisdom do not feedd a switched live to the car ISO, it seems taht the only wires need are the ground (Black) , permenant live (red) a leaad for an electri arial (Blue) and a seperate wire green + red which I haave no idea about.

In answer to your quetion the radio did switch off when the original unit was in.

if the original radio switched off with the ignition then there must be a switched live, try testing the green and red wire to see if gets a feed when the ignition is on/off if it does then thats your switched live. try testing it with headlights on/off aswell if live when lights are on this is a dimmer switch (dims display for night driving)

12v testers ae cheap buy or you could make one with a light bulb and some spare wire

does your alpine actually work when when you plug it up?
i drive a 190e with out iso plugs and even i have a switched live and my cars 14 years old

i just checked online and i cant find any wiring harness available for your car so it should go straight in.

Hi again,
Head unit in and working ok. It seems that the Merc I have isn't fitted with a switched live due to the command unit which controls the car system. still not sure what the G/R wire is 4 but it does'nt carry any voltage, at least not on my meter.

I woulde like to than you for you help anyway, but £40 pounds did the trick albeit just to hook onto the ciggy wire.
