hi i'm a new member
i have a 1989 2.6 190e and i have changed my radiator after i got told by the MB garage that the leak was comming from there, but it is still leaking coolant in or around the steering pump area, i also had the sniffer test done to see if the head gasket needed changing but that come back clear,i believe it could be the water pump.if so where is this on the engine and how much is a new one?:(

A new pump from GSF is £94. The pump is situated on the right hand side of the engine just under the inlet manifold. It is held on with Allen Bolts so be prepared for some swearing as they are nigh on impossible to get out without breaking tools, fingers and temper. It is possible to do it in your drive / garage but better on a set of ramps. You will need to take out the radiator, belt tensioner, steering pump, steering pump bracket and some wiring by the coil. Mark everything before removing ( I still do) with paper tape. Saves loads of heartaches on re fitting.
