crakshaft sensor

Dont mean to sound thick but where abouts is the crankshaft sensor? The only sensor we took off was the camshaft sensor, which we put back on. Apart from the crankshaft sensor, would there be any other reason for it not too spark? Cheers Daz.

did you check every plug for spark ??? You need to.

Each of three coils feed two plugs each ie two cylinders. Only one coil or all coils may have blown.

The problem is the engine wiring loom on these cars. The insulation degrades. Has yours been renewed or is it original ????

If it is original then you have probably broken the insulation on the coil feed wires which are inside the thick rubber strapping on top of the head (under the top cover)

You cannot see the individual wires until you have trimmed back the outer black covering.

The coil feed wires will have shorted and blown (only) the coil or coils if you are lucky.

If you are unlucky it will also have blown the coil driver circiuts inside the main engine ECU.

A new one is approx £1,000 and a new engine wiring harness is about £650.

You may be able to get the ECU repaired.

In your view Kieth would you say as this was a head gasket job to start with the the fault could be more the wiring as its all been disturbed,, and also bearing in mind that the harness if faulty can damage other things

Sorry to be a little blank on this.

forget the coils as one would work and you cant test them with any meter to get a sensible reading

What are the first 6 vin numbers 124 --- the next 3

Is it running now

Hi there I have the same motor 1995 e280 estate if you are still struggling I am willing to measure voltages etc on mine to compare and try and see whats going wrong with yours

Btw if you haven't got a blinker for testing the fault codes i can knock one up and send it down to you FOC ive got enough junk here to make about 20 of them. You will just need the banana plugs for the end as i have run out of them.
Regards Paul
