Help on how to run phone aerial on S320

Hello all,

I have a 1996 S320 which came with a Nokia CARK-91 fitted. I have a Nokia 6310i which works fine in the kit.

The reception drops when I put the phone in the cradle. There is no external aerial so I'm guessing its connected to the rear window demister.

However, the rear window demister does not work (I've had a garage check it out) and all fuses and relays are working - but the window element is burnt out. This apparently happens to older S-classes (?) So does this account for my bad reception?

I've read that there is a splitter that patches the radio and cellphone aerials to the rear window demister. I see something like this in the rear left pillar behind the reading light.

So the questions!
1. Is this the splitter I'm looking for?
2. Can I patch the glassmount aerial lead to one of these cables to save me routing a new cable to the control unit
3. If i just want to route a new cable how do I do it? I've seen comments like "pull down the headliner" but can I just pull it? Are the bolts, screws etc? All the pillars look very solid with no give or spaces to run cables?

When I open the rear left pillar to see the splitter, I also see what looks like a coax running from the roof back to the rear.

You might have guessed that I'm confused!! Any help greatfully appreciated!

Rgds,
Eoin

Thanks for that web page - so is the aerial splitter then on that rail above the headliner at the rear of the cabin?

Can I just pull down the headliner?

I think that you remove the side panel on C pillar, you have to remove the rear seat to do this
