Help on sd cards for music

Hi. I’m completely new to all this so excuse the potential stupid questions.
I’m looking to find what sd card I can use for music in my 2014 e class. It’s got an sd card slot in the dashboard and has the option to use it for music on the audio menu.
I’d like to know the sd capacity I can use and what kind I need and what format it has to be in.

Usually format as FAT and file format MP3. I have used 4 and 8GB cards without issue. Your manual for your unidentified sound system will tell you exactly

Different models have different standards as Mercedes technology has developed. My 2010 car was much more fussy than my 2018 one.

If it helps, the following is from my electronic handbook (Mercedes Guides app):

The multimedia system supports the following memory cards:

• SD cards ( Secure Digital)
• SDHC cards ( Secure Digital High Capacity)
• SDXC cards ( Secure Digital e Xtended Capacity

Permissible file systems

• ISO 9660/Joliet standard for CDs
• UDF for video DVDs
• FAT16, FAT32, exFAT and NTFS for SD card and USB storage media

Slightly off-topic I wonder if anyone knows how large an SDxx card can I use to store vast quantities of music for my SL R230.

You need to look up what unit you have and check the manual for the max SD card size. Then it will depend on the format of the music - usually MP3 - and the bit rate. Use the calculator I posted to find out.
