:? :? I Purchased an '81 380sl in March. Initial problem of erratic idle. Would at times idle for a short period at around 750rpm but would erratically jump between this up to around 2000rpm. Garage has so far carried out numerous work including: Replacing - idle speed control unit - Idle speed slide valve
- Fuel injection head. Water temp sensor.
The engine now idles constantly at around 1000rpm, however when moving to nuetral or park the revs momentarily increase to around 1500.
Amazingly I have now discovered that if the heater fan is switched on the rpm drops to around 750 and there is no substantial increase if moving from drive to nuetral or park. All problems in fact vanish. I would be grateful if any one can suggest what the link between the heater fan and the idle speed could be.
