Hi all I am a newbie here and returning driver owner to the mercedes benz brand

When I try to get a quote from insurance using reg no it states it's a sport.

Are there differences to show on car it's a AMG

Thanks

Hello and welcome,

Simple answer is that it isn’t an AMG

More complex answer is that Mercedes muddied the waters in making “AMG - Line” cars - which are a bit of bodywork and fancy wheels. An AMG car has an AMG engine which they never made as a C220.

It is possibly an AMG line model, shouldn’t make any difference to insurance - unless they’ve added an “AMG” badge to the boot… then it’s a modification that should be notified.

Generally the ‘AMG’ sportsline cars have a body styling kit, sports suspension, bigger wheels and brakes, the engines are not tuned in any way, so the car looks looks, handles and stops better

I have a 212 E350CDI Sport but its not a AMG. Just to confuse the issue the wheels have AMG on them.

The owner of the car you are interested in is confusing you.
It is not and never will be an AMG despite what he is telling you.
As explained above, it is a sport version of a C220 and may even be designated "AMG Line"
That does not make it an AMG.
Its a long running problem with Mercedes themselves confusing people by even mentioning AMG on non AMG cars.
My C Class estate has AMG steering wheel, bodykit, mats ,alloys but its no AMG.

But on the plus side the sporty, AMGy trim that it comes with were factory fit so it not a mod and won't affect insurance.

It'll just look better!

Yes I think your correct but I also think he believes its one too, I must say the suspension feels hard and front brake discs are cross drilled that makes makes me feel it's a little different.

Standard Sport/AMG Line… making Mercedes more uncomfortable since the mid 2000’s…

I don’t… :p

Too many owners prefer the look of their cars to actually driving them it appears…

I find I can’t see the wheels and tyres from the drivers seat but I can definitely feel them…;)

It is a Sport, they put AMG wheels and other bits on the Sport Models back then, they would be called "AMG Line" now

An AMG feels quiet and comfortable compared to a sports car, like a Porsche or McLaren. AMGs handle, stop and ride OK, but it's still a heavy, comfort biased car, I would say. That's why I own AMGs, my days of buzzing round in sports cars are long over. Especially with the roads round here, and Mrs. '63s nerves.

Really like the style of my sport estate with the AGM finishings my Mrs feels the same about it
