As above had to fit a new battery this week to my w220 s class diesel and when i took the cover off the battery compartment i found a white wire thats just hanging. The car went in to my local dealer last year for a new ingnition switch an im guessing that they forgot to reconnect it,i know they removed the battery because it went flat due to the tests they performed.I phoned them today regarding this but they told me to take the car in.If anyone knows where this wire is supposed to go it will save me time,im thinking it either goes to earth or possibly to the negative terminal although this looks unlikely.Any help would be welcome.

There are only two wires connected to the battery..well 3 actually Two reds one thick one thin, both connected to the live terminal and a black wire connected to the negitive terminal.. I would wait until the garage have had a look at it, it may have been a wire they were using as a link..
