Seriously need help guys.
Just when I couldn't be any busier, the Sprinter has developed a horrendous water leak.
Local garage diagnosed it as the cooler at the back of the head.
They were wrong, because I thought I'd check it myself before parting with 250 quid and it's just the small hose at the bottom of the cooler to the block.
It took a miniature torch and a bendy mirror to see this: how the hell do you get the cooler off to change this hose? Utterly impossible location.
It's a '95 208D, normally aspirated 2.3.
Any suggestions most welcome.

James.

Difficult, never impossible. Had cooler off my 310 some time back, probably different to yours, but it was awkward too.

For future reference lads; if you remove the heater fan motor assembly, complete with plenum chamber and pollen filter, you can then get your head in to gain access to the hose which runs 'round the back of the cylinder head onto a water rail under the exhaust manifold.
It's a bit fiddly, but fairly simple once the heater is out. I think you could probably remove the cooler as well if required.

Cheers,

James.
