I have a 1988 W124 300E saloon. I have had the car for over 8 years, but it never came with a handbook. Would anyone happen to know the towing limit for this vehicle?

Thanks in anticipation. Dave Howes

Not a direct answer to your question - but you can get a handbook via your dealer for not much money - they may have to order it but you will get in within 2-3 days.

The towing limit on most Mercedes 124 series is 1500kg. However, it is recommended you not tow more than 85% of the kerbside weight of the car. Unless you are considering buying a very large twin axle caravan or towing a horse box or boat, you should be well inside this limit. I owned a 260E in the late 80's and towed a van weighing 1230kg with no problem. I currently own an E300TD estate and tow a van of similar weight, again with no problem. I would suggest you not tow a horse box or boat, you will be well over the 85%. Hope this helps
