I always thought the the fronts had 17mm bolts, the ATE type rears use a 7mm Alen key.

The two bolts on the front discs that hold the caliper support or whatever it is called are 18mm hex but I meant the two headless pins that you get at by removing the plastic cover plugs situated in the caliper body.

Anyway it was a bit of a panic on my part because none of my Allen keys would not fit so I thought it must be either a Torx or Star fitting - turned out to be a 7mm hex Allen Key socket. All my Allen Keys are AF hence the panic:Oops::Oops:

However Discs and pads changed all is now well :) mind you every ****** bolt and screw I had to remove hung on until the very last thread, even the wear sensors were siezed into the pads.

Some beds still come with Whitworth bolts.

We all have different wishes, I would love to get a wench installed in my kitchen :confused:

This "winch" then is it for lifting a pig onto a spit, or are your 'kitchen' activities beyond imagination;):p DO TELL, in fact it sounds like an interesting post for the DIY section:confused:

The winch is to lift a 10' long GNU clothes airer. I fitted the airer quite a few years ago and found that when it is full with laundry it is awkward to lift.
I have been looking for a suitable winch for ages and found one in Markro for £39. I've built limit switches into the ceiling so that the winch does rip it from the mountings.

I AM impressed, hope limit switches never fail or you will be 'off line' for some considerable time, well at least until the good lady wife finds you! I do hope the MeM SaaB does not see this or that will be my next task;)

It's not 15mm, 17 is a loose fit 16mm maybe good however I don't have that in my spanners.

You could use a 15mm spanner to undo a 5/8" nut, but not the other way round

Yes the things that I have bought from the USA have been imperial

Used a 5/8" to undo the 16mm bolts on the rear caliper brackets yesterday and tighten up the new ones, however I did the final tighten with a (short) 16mm socket just in case! So I will not now have a clear out of all my old stuff, anyway most of it has a sentimental attachment going back to the 50's;)
