if its abosch one, it should be under the washer bottle.....you know the one you fill with WATER !!! i mean could`ve `put it somewhere stupid like in the radiator!!!
if its the vdo type, i think its n/s footwell, but not sure
I am trying to get it out so I can send it to you!!! Its not under the washer bottle so I will look in the footwell this evening. What is the electronic stuff behind the battery then???! I have a small pile of it now, funnily enough in the passengers footwell.........
It IS behind the battery. They should be covered with a plastic screen and hidden, but techs often do not replace the plastic screen.
It is the one with two large plugs on it.
You will need to take battery out, so log your radio code (perhaps), and when refitting battery (after ECU repaired), the alarm is likely to go off.
Do not re-install the ECU without the new wiring loom and the 3xcoils checked for shorting or it could "blow" again.
It will be the output driver transistors in the ECU and not everyone is capable of repairing the type you have. Get the quote in writing first, after you have given the repairer the part number and type of ECU.
Top marks on the location! I have sent it away for repair. So here is hoping. Also my motor electrician is happy he can repair and not replace the loom. Am I too hopeful for the longevity of the work? Or should I simply pay the cash and replace?
