Help who can tell me what this is and how to fix it if possible please

Please help, my car engine light came on and i opened the bonnet to see this,,,, its been chewed, burnt somthing but i can not find what it is in the manual or handbook, can this be easily fixed or is the car finished now? Tia

I would say camshaft position sensor and to repair it carefully solder in the missing length of wire and cover in heat shrink tubing.

As said repair it, simple soldering job.

At least you have found the problem, could easily have been hidden away somewhere.

As said a new cable needs to be soldered in, in place of the chewed one..

Whilst not difficult we don't know your level of competence with a soldering iron.

I'd get a garage to do it. Whilst not difficult it's not the sort of thing for a beginner as it's quite tight there.

If it is a critter nibbling around you need to check it's not been elsewhere.

There are things you can spray around to repel them, google it.

An auto electrician should be able to do it in half an hour.
