Have to point out i cannot see any mice !!!!!, are we sure its mice causing the damage ?, they do get blamed for a lot of things, perhaps its a squirrel !!!!

Only Squirrel i know of is a Scotts Squirrel any one old enough to remember them ? .. best way to stop the rodent dead is a small container with baking powder and drinking chocolate powder mixed ...they eat it but cant digest it .

Get a couple of mouse traps in the engine bay. They will be back. Chocolate squished into the trap works well.
make sure to remove the traps before you set off.
Very common this time of year as it cold and mice fine a warm place to rest.

And go the full hog and put an armoured cable in its place ..or by a piece of 240 volt and pull the wires out and fit new 12v wire in ,,even paint it black to go with the rest
