I've just bought an MC 3010 (alpine) merc 6 disk changer to fit to my 96 E320. I have an Audio 10 optical head unit. I've bought the power lead wires which have a connector which plugs into the changer. The 3 wires are black, brown and blue (black tracer). The brown and the black leads have metal connectors on them that look as though they need to be added to a block connector somewhere. The blue (black tracer is just a bare end.
I have an optical cable (2 orange wires) which obviously go in the head unit and the changer but it also has a blue wire (with black tracer) which ends in an 8 pin block connector (It's the only wire in the connector)

Can anyone tell me where each of the wires get connected to???

Pleeeeese.

cd retro fit

hi

power lead for cd loader :-

brown earth
black live 12 volt
blue black wakeup

these contacts can all be picked up at the back of the audio set it sounds like you have the wrong looms as the blue black with the optic cabels is the same wake up line. If I were you i would install the optic lines and use the blue black attached ( the plug fits above the speaker plug in the aduio set) run an earth to the chassis and pick up any fused ignition live

Piestore,
Many thanks
I also posed this question on a USA site for Mercs and kept getting the same reply "Mercedes didn't make optical CD's head units for 96 E320's." Maybe thats just USA?

Many thanks again
