Help with central locking PLEASE

I purchased a 300sl-24 last year with no infra red remote. The central locking working fine with the key. Finally got around to buying a remote this week from Mercedes. Programmed in remote and tried...

Working fine I thought until I locked the car and tried to open it..Red lights flashed correctly, noise from central locking system, doors and boot still open. If I lock trhe car manually with the key, doors and boot locked ok. Press remote to unlock, green lights work ok, noise from central locking, doors open perfectly.

In short will not lock with remote, but will unlock with remote.

Any Ideas PLEASE !!!!

This will only be a vacuam problem, works in one direction, but not the other.
Could be just a pipe off, or needs replacing. does the pump run when you press to lock.

Pump works fine when I press to lock.

Was hoping someone would think the same as I did. Didn't want to start stripping the systm down before some possible confirmation.

Will start to strip doors down when it stops SNOWING. Luckily the car spends most of its time in the garage so gives me some time to try to solve.

central locking fault

Discovered the fault was on the petrol flap solenoid. Disconnected and capped off and cetral locking working fine now. Just need to buy a new solenoind now no doubt!
