Help....

Hope you don't mind me posting this on this thread but this is the most read ML thread.

Not sure If i have a problem but the radio backlight / switchgear below radio only appears to come on when dark regardless if the lights are switched to auto and they come on. I can have the lights on but still no radio light but then when it is dark they appear to come on. Is this normal?? I would have thought if you turned your lights on the radio / switchgear lights would have turned on as well. It looks like the car had a phone kit fitted before so maybe they took a light feed to the phone??? Please help as if it is a problem which it sounds like I need to get her looked at.

Apart from that drove her around at the weekend and due to my son having a birthday party actually used the 3rd row of seats. I am loving it the more I drive it the more I love it.

If anyone is interested I bought a parcel shelf / luggage cover for her off ebay, trouble is as soon as I bought it (black) a grey one came up. so I am now selling the black one. Its on ebay if anyone is interested.

Cheers

Darren

Heh! Im on holiday... cant be saying Ill be along any moment!!
Forget ML's, go 4x4 skiing (Ice, Rain, Blown Snow, Rocks and Heather)!!

Staffs, this site is powered by an underpowered ISP or Server, so sometimes it does get overloaded and a Submit never returns. Easiest way to see is to open another window and see if your post is already inserted, avoids the double entries.

Re:Switchgear, something is wrong. Ive had an Audio 10 (or 20), 30 and Command in the ML and all light up the moment you turn on the lights (I dont have Auto on mine... sob!). The ML doesnt have CAN for light activation, its the old wire activation, so looks like this wire is not connected at the back of your unit.

It is strange, during the day if you have the lights on the radio is dark, yet at night the lights on the radio come on. I was not sure if they worked via a light sensor or not. I will get her checked out.

Thanks

OK maybe I don't have a problem after all.............If you cover the sensor on the dash on the right of the radio the lights on the radio and all other switchgear like windows etc light up. So I guess this car must have auto interior lights can anyone confirl this is correct or do I indeed have a wiring problem?????

I would appreciate your help.

Regards

The sensor is to the left of the unit not the right. red LED when alarm is on and a small grill which I thought would be the temperature sensor for the climate???? Anyway if I cover this sensor the lights come on????
