Help with "Strange" accessory Jackplug Socket

Hello and a Happy New Year to you all, we have an N Reg C250D which does not have a Cigarette Lighter Fitted, instead under where the Ashtray would usually sit there is a Square Plastic Cap which covers what is clearly an Accessory Jack Socket, however the Plug that would fit it would be about as big as a TV Arial Plug, it appears to be a standard fitting but I cannot imagine what kind of Plug this would take, has anyone seen this type of thing before and perhaps know where I can buy a plug to fit it, is it the type of thing I could get at Maplins?? All suggestions gratefully received and many thanks in advance,

Hi Steve

Being old and grey sometimes helps.
I recall using a Hella plug as a 12v auxillary power supply many years ago.

Well Big John, that certainly looks like the kind of thing I need, Im going to go out in the morning and measure the socket properly and then give the caravan people a ring to check the size, but being made by Hella makes sense on a Merc and going by the comparative size of the plug and Cigar Socket shown I think it might be the one, many thanks indeed for going to the truoble of finding it for me, and I will let you know how I get on,

You can get those plugs from CPC/Farnell/RS

Hi Steve

Thinking about it if the plug is correct the "caravan" adaptor lead will give you all that you require i.e. connection to standard 12v accessory plugs.

I have could not find them on the CPC/Farnell/Maplin/RS sites.
