can someboby please help i've got £15.000 to spend and i cant decide between a s320cdi or e270cdi/e320cdi are there any pitfalls to look out for or maybe which year i should look for i just want the best for my money

Really its a choice between the S class or E class I guess, what do you like best?

How many miles a yr do you do? reason I ask for 15K most of the S320Cdi and E320Cdi will be heading towards 100K for 15K however a petrol one will be much cheaper? and lowever miles...

If however its a derv you want I would say the E320Cdi as much as I like the S class with the 'new' model out it does look more dated that the E class which even if you got a 2002 looks pretty much as a brand new one does now.

My dad has a 2003 E320cdi estate and love it, he has had it since new, regularly gets over 40mpg, its very comfortable and eats the miles.

Not sure what to look for as his had had no problems for him.

Hi and welcome to the club. I have an 02 S320CDi and really like the car, up to 40mpg on the motorway.
Repairs can be expensive, failure of airmatic cost £1000+ to fix. Showed signs of rust earlier this year and fixed by MB as goodwill gesture. I think cars after late 2003 do not have rust issues, only time will tell.
My brother had early E270CDi W211 and had lot of electrical problems. These issues were resolved in later models.
