As a new member I need immediate help.I plan to buy E 280. I have 2 options,...1) 2007 E280 AG with panorama top, leather seats,22000Km on dial in excellent condition with one year warranty left .2) brand new 2009 E280 with same specs with a price difference of 12000$. I am hesitant to buy new car because I know a new shape is due in 2010. Please give me your advice. should i go for 2007 model and later change to 2010 when it is released,

I'd buy used, $12000 (I assume US dollars?) is a lot of money and you have to think that if you bought new then yours would lose $12,000 in two years! Try and negotiate a longer warranty if buying from a dealer.

I agree with Simon. 2 years old with 22,000 kms exactly fits one of my criteria for buying a car - it still looks, feels and drives like a new car, you pay a much lower price than new, you have a year's warranty remaining. The rate at which a 2 year old car will then depreciate is much slower than for a new car.

But then I am principally driven (pardon the pun) by functionality (which a 2 year old MB should deliver generously) rather than by being seen in the current model (which is an expensive and temporary phenomenon, and rarely carries many functional or technical advantages over the older car).

So again it is personal choice but these are some of the factors that can swing the decision (I think television used a similar strategy when buying his SL500).
