Hi - new member here, so treat me gently as I've been known to ask some pretty daft questions.

My E280 CDI is due its second service - B service? (first one paid for by dealer as part of purchase negotiation) and I don't want to pay fancy dealer prices. Does anyone know a good reliable independent in South Wales or Bristol (I live in Chepstow).

Also is there any serious downside to using an indy? I take it the mobilo goes west so, yet another question, does anyone know a good basic breakdown service at a cost that wouldn't negate the service savings?

I feel guilty starting with such a selfish post but any advice would be very welcome.

Only advice i will give is, theres a lot of service measures out on your model at the mo, if you dont go back to mb then these will cost you more in the years to come. next time you put it in to mb these service measures will be sorted f,o,c!

I agree with Samunit on that.

You get free breakdown service here and abroad for all drivers and 30 year rust guarantee. And a better price when you sell as many, like me, will only buy cars with fullMBSH.

And if things go wrong outside the guarantee period, MB will usually make a significant contribution if you have a full service record.
