My CLK 2.3 Komp battery went flat and we've got the battery on charge no problems but when attempting to access the boot to re-install battery the boot lock will not open. We've read the Manual a thousand times but with no luck used the Mech' key still no luck can anybody suggest something really quick, please

Have called our breakdown service who will be here in under an hour but they will not be merc techies - is there something we need to know?

You may have a plastic panel on the firewall with 2 terminals on it, putting 12 volt here will enable you to use the central locking, or put 12 volts onto the fat starter motor cable

You should also have a battery type cable going into the fuse boxes that should also work

That's ok Malc as long as the positive terminal isn't touching the boot floor!

positive terminal

The positive was left away from the bodywork so should not be a problem, being a electrically bias its come as second nature

Everything is sorted, the Mech' guy turned up to something he'd never had to sort before - the info you guys supplied was bang on the mark and within 5 minutes the car boot was open, battery fitted and engine running.
He had to use a booster to get the car started so the battery is shot will need to get a replacement tomorrow - best thing was he'd learnt something aswell so we all win..., but there always a but..., the manual mentions to turn steering both left and right full lock for the ESP, radio code and mentions the windows need to be reset?
I opened the drivers window whilst going for a runabout and it wouldn't stop until it was fully opened then refused to close..., I managed to get the window to close a little bit at a time when parked by switching the ignition on and off the at the same time operating the window switch.

Wont be opening that window until summer now! thanks all of you for your help cheers and a happy new year 2009

Every thing that I do I have to double check as it as a matter of life and death with a high voltage lead off. Sure on cars I always point out safety procedures, but this one passed me by, its often the silly things, as in this case that did not enter my mind
