I opened the sun roof for the first time in approx 7 months yesterday on my SEC. Unfortunately it wont close fully again now. The roof still goes back and forward but it will not completely close, leaving the roof at a slight angle and a gap of about 1/2" at the back. It rained today and it has got through to the roof lining. Anyone any ideas on what might be stopping it fully engaging please? JB

Check in your tool kit for a long allen key and if you look up towards the sunroof there should be a blanking plug near the roof light which will have a screw behind it ..the allen key fits in there and you should be able to manually close the roof .. open and close the roof manually a few times and see if this sorts ur problem

And just reading ur post again...''leaving the roof at a slight angle and a gap of about 1/2" at the back'' that kinda tells me the roof is closing and then going on to the next stage.. raising the rear of the roof to vent the car.. check if the roof will auto close by pressing once on the switch.... and if u pull down on the back of the switch it should fully close the roof ..

I don't know if this will help but, the older models with the motor in the boot have a switch mechanism on the motor block that shuts the motor off in the closed position, this is adjustable, you pull out and twist its little grey cap untill it latches into the next index position. Having done an adjustment open and close the roof to see if you have made it better or worse, repeat the adjustment (or reverse the adjustment) till it closes in the right place.

I have not had the pleasure of fiddling with a motor in the roof type and am unsure of the limit switch location, it will be either on the motor or the sliding parts.

I'm sure some body will be able to clarify and expand on this matter.

Thanks all. Located the motor in the boot and wound it by hand. It goes back and forward only as far as it does on the switch. I've covered the motor and its screw in WD40 and greased the rails. Still the same. Can,t find a grey cap on there; might just be none on a w126. It's still stuck fractionally open, ie ventilated, but the rain is getting in at the roof lining. Help!!!!!!
