Yes, i put it in some engine oil in container and pushed the tensioner down about 10 times. Fitted now but unfortunately it hasn't made any difference to the rattly chain sound on tickover and up to about 2000rpm, after which it sounds quiet for an old diesel. A new noise had also occured on top off this recently, which sounds like a loud ticking almost hissing noise.

This does not sound good. There seems to be too much tension/very badly worn tensioner guides:eek: expect engine damage soon:rolleyes:

I've located the hissing noise which ic coming from the end injector nearest the bulkhead, posted thread above.
