Hello, I am new to the Mercedes forums thought I'd just introduce myself.

My name is Harry Karaoglanian (as in my username), I am 16 years old and just recently purchased a used 1999 S 320. I bought it for 23 grand, local deal, it has a little below 33k miles on it.

I came here to learn more about my Mercedes so I can maintain it well and keep it in the perfect condition it is in.

My first question for this forum though :)
The windows on this thing are liek double layered, why did they make it like this? I heard they used to make these bodies for presidents?

Oops, thats two questions, hehe.

Welcome Harry. Are you really 16 years old or is that a typo?

Yes, I am 16 years old, I worked since I was 14 years old at my dad's Autobody shop and now, 76 Gas Station, saved up money from my birthdays and have been striving for a car since the age of about 12. I eventually ended up with around 19k maybe a little over, and my parnets as my 16 year old gift pitched in the rest.

whitenemesis, I can understand why they will do that, the system is crystal clear with a firm bass. I love the car!

I added some pictures I took with my photography gear, I hate the way the pics came out, but there's my car!

Congratulations on your purchase. Looks very nice indeed. I hope insurance costs are kind to you. In the UK theres not much chance for a 17 year old to be able to get reasonably priced insurance for a car like yours :)

Thanks everyone, and yes, my mom's insurance says if I maintain a 3.0 G.P.A or higher, they will give me a reasonable price.

I forgot the actual price quote they gave us though :(

Wow! That's some car! Very nice indeed.
My first car was bought for me by my parents...but there the similarity ends! It was a 1957 Ford Popular, and it was nearly 20 years old when I got it! It had 3 forward gears, doors that opened the wrong way, indicators which flipped out of the door pillar, and the wipers were powered by the engine revs...going up a hill on a rainy day, you couldn't see a thing, but going down the hill the wipers went faster than the car! Ah...memories!
Anyway, enjoy the car...and the forum.

Oh those memories!

My Ford Pop was 1955 model, cost £17.50, no heater.

The wipers came to a stop if you put your foot down, and if the wind got any higher than a whisper, they wiped the roof.

The indicators were a law unto themselves, switch the switch on, bang on the side of the car and if they felt like it they would pop up, if not, open the window and pull them out, and by then you had got round the corner.

Anyway Harry, best of luck with your new car, and hope you have as much fun as we all did.

and yet another welcome, the car looks great enjoy it, looks like a bird puller to me;-) ;-)

Unlike my first car - a three wheeler with no reverse, hand operated wipers. The first girl I met after buying it dropped me in disgust :(
