2012 W204 C180 Estate AMG Sport
Hi all,
Would have joined a couple of years ago if I had thought on but alas I am finally here. Previously had a 2010 CLC180 Sport with 50k on the clock, mechanically sound for the 4 years I had it but chewed through tyres, LCD screen and CD player stopped working, traction control stopped working, and front seats wouldn't angle forward to enable passengers to get in the back. Anyway, fast forward to now got a 2012 W204 C180 Estate AMG Sport (hate using the AMG name to describe trim when its a standard engine but hey-ho i didnt name it) just had the ABS sensors replaced after ABS warning light, engine management light, traction control off, and tyre pressure sensors all came on, and also had a full engine service, new spark plugs etc, and 2 days later orange engine warning light has come on again after being told following the service everything was A ok. Engine sounds and runs fine, anyone experienced this, only had it a week or so and was hoping electrical gremlins would have been put to bed with the work already done

P260000 error code. Circulation pump got an electrical fault or open circuit or something like that. Garage replacing thermostat and doing a full system flush. Not getting much change from £700

Welcome, sounds like you need it plugging into Xentry for proper diagnosis

W204 are just "Sport" models, not "AMG Sport"

Right guys, would love to hear thoughts and opinions on this next issue. Suddenly the auto box got really jerky intermittently when trying to select a gear in the lower ranges, like a sharp kill of momentum and suddenly engine performance was like it was in limp mode, jerk reaction happened 2 or 3 times, and when i put foot flat to the floor after the jerkiness it just would not accelerate or go above 30mph, with not a single light or warning message on the dash. Drove it maybe 1/4 of a mile max like this to get me back to work, turned it off for half hour, did the manual TCU reset after a bit of googling and no repeat of it on the journey home of 10 miles or so this evening, changes were buttery almost unnoticeably smooth as previous. This is my first ownership of an auto, its the 7 speed, just wondered if anyone had experienced this? My hunch is electronic/sensor related again like the reason for the previous 2 spells in the garage over the last few weeks, but wanted to check opinions as £2k spent so far in the last month and wondering whether to cut my losses

If you've only had the car a week or so back on the 21st July, it's under a month.

Did you buy it from a garage?

That's a long list of issues for a car that was fault free at the point of sale....

If a private sale, has the battery been checked (Inc stored codes) as a flat / low battery can be behind many gremlins or reported gremlins?

Bought/buying it from my new place of work, they have covered the garage bills so far. Garage told me when i asked for a health check that battery needed doing but don't actually see it on the invoice so maybe thats the issue

That's good of them.

Testing it, though for £100 - £150, just dropping a new battery in as precaution and clearing all the codes would be sensible based on that update

So opened the bonnet today for first time since it was last in garage (like a month ago) engine light came on again a couple of days but turned off this morning. Checked the battery and it never got replaced despite me asking, was still the original merc battery it left the factory with. Replaced it with a brand new one, but noticed a load of black insulation tape around the air intake pipe, the garage i used (RM Motors - Hanging Heaton) had clearly damaged it and bodged it, massive split in it. I have a picture of the engine bay the morning it went to them as it got valeted the same day and no damage whatsoever, not sure what to do

You have proof that the garage damaged it so they should replace the in take pipe at least.
Doesn't give me a good feeling of their competence.
