Mercedes E220D Estate 2018
As the title says, hi everyone.

Never owned an MB before, but following a recent house sale, and my old Volvo V70 needing an MOT in September I decided it was time to treat myself. Plus didn't fancy having to donate a kidney or 2 to get the Volvo though the test.

Anyway, I fell for a 2018 E220D (is it the W213 or are the estates the S213?) beautiful condition inside and out, full paperwork, books etc and the dealer had just had the B service at an indy garage which I checked with MB was genuine and showed up on their system so all good.

The dealer said the original wheels all had curb damage so instead of repairing decided to put a new set of oem 19" wheels on as they also look so much better (have to agree imo)

Screenshot_20200825-174748_Gallery.jpg

Anyway after getting home, I noticed that the tyres are firstly some make I've never heard of, Alventi or something and the sizes are as follows:
Front 245/35/19
Rear 275/30/19

In the fuel filler tyre pressures mention 19" rims, but sizes should be:
Front 245/40/19
Rear 275/35/19

I know their isn't much difference in the profile sizes, but I would like to put a good tyre on, and I would also like to stick with MB recommendations on sizes, as I'm sure they spend a fortune on R&D on these issues so should know what they're talking about.

I've been 'lurking' on the forums for a week or so and would be very grateful for any advice on tyres. I'm not fussed on runflats I just want the comfiest and best, preferably all season as I know I'm looking at probably £1,000 + for 4 and I never skimp on tyres but not sure I can afford same again for winters as well.

I have checked a few in depth reviews on the likes of Michelin Crossclimate but not available in this size, same problem with Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen 2

Any advice gratefully received and thank you in advance. Btw, sorry if I should have introduced myself and put the question in another forum, put it down to newbie error :)

Hi and welcome.
Personally I use Uniroyal Rainsports on our cars. Not an all season tyre but to date have never had any issues in cold weather. Best of all you'll have change from your £1000.

What's best for you will depend on where you live and what your driving profile is.

Looks lovely buddy , welcome . If you bourght from a reputable dealer , might be worth mentioning the tyre size discrepancy , maybe they should have noticed or not sold it like that ?? . They might have to change them or credit you in some way

Hmm, forgot about the Rainsports (which isn't good as I researched them and put them on the Volvo, old age ) re location I live in Shrewsbury and regularly travel to and from Manchester. I'll never be pushing it as in nice cars more into cruising and enjoying the drive, comfier the better. I know on 19" rims it's never going to float

Thanks, love it.
Re dealer, he already honoured one of his staff advertising it for £1,000 less than he should! I know they all try the spiel, but it went on Auto Trader on the Saturday and they were closed on Sunday. I managed to get hold of him 1st thing Monday and he was very apologetic re price. Long story short I checked and sure enough both website and auto trader price had gone up, but then get call saying boss will honour price, so to be truthful I don't mind taking the 'hit' myself

As a matter of interest Dave, you now have the same wheels as I do. Unfortunately I touched a kerb with one of mine. It's only quite a small mark but I can't live with it as I am very fussy. How much, if you don't mind me asking, were the wheels, I would obviously only need one

Hi Andy, I honestly have no idea, he said they were brand new, and having been around them with a fine toothcomb (can't stand dings either) I think they are. They still have MB stickers on the inner face and when I picked it up their was no sign of any dirt even on the stickers. I know RRP for them is £1,268 so sorry pal can't help you

They are, and thanks for the suggestion, more food for thought. Out of curiosity which manufacturer does MB use for oem tyres?

:) more like one and a half, when first posted (and the price I paid minus negotiation on my poor Volvo in part ex) it was £21,995 and then went up to £22,995 when they realised mistake, which would probably have been over priced? and certainly out of my budget

Whichever one is willing to give them the best price at the time...

:) makes sense I suppose
As a great many owners just replace the tyres with whatever is already fitted the tyre manufactures compete to get OE fitment as they know they will make their money when it comes to replacing the tyres.

"MO" is Mercedes Fitment although it doesn't mean they're any different or designed specifically for Mercedes.

Makes a lot of sense thinking about it, and I suppose the tyre manufacturers are falling over themselves to become 'OEM' suppliers to a premium brand like MB for the same reason

The sizes on the fuel filler cap sound right. Check against the handbook and also one of the online tools that black circles / my tyres etc use where it checks your reg# and gives you the recommended tyre /wheel sizes.

By the sound of it those tyres are 5% out? I'm happy to be shot down if this is bad/incorrect advice, but if there's no effect on the electronic systems, abs/esp etc I'd probably just be tempted to leave as is for the moment. I'd be surprised if a radial increase of 5% is going to make much difference, unless there's clearance issues, you might just find your speedo is more accurate, they usually exaggerate.

V nice car BTW!!!
