C Class coupe / 220d /2018
I am a new member as of today and have a quick question regarding my C Class 220d Coupé (registered May '18) which I bought this week from a main dealer.

Reviews I read before buying showed excellent fuel consumption figures with over 60mpg combined. I previously had a CLA 4MATIC which produced high 50's mpg combined so this sounded reasonable. However, on a 60 mile trip today of mixed motoring I achieved just 42.1, including a run out yesterday (a mix of open road and town driving) 124 miles and a return 44.1mpg.

I would appreciate any views you may have, as this seems way off what I should have achieved..... or am I being a little naive?

Just a quick point, I am 60 years old and not a boy racer!

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum. :) I must admit that I would have expected a little more than an average of 44.1mpg. That is about the same as I get from my 2017 C200 petrol. Like you I am not a boy racer but I have seen on a previous round trip of 220 miles a recorded 44.9mpg :)

I am afraid that quoted MPG and actual are miles apart. My E 300 bluetec hybrid has figures of over 60 bandied about whereas my actual is 43.5. My old 220 Average was 46.5. I am 72 and wish i was a boy racer!

Hello and welcome.
My then brand new E220 BlueTec never did more than low 40s mpg, regardless of driving style. I can drive it like I stole it, but then I can also get measured-at-the-pump 32mpg out of a 20yr old CL500, so...

Welcome, I read in a car mag once, general rule of thumb is, knock 20% off what the manufacturer claimed MPG is. Don't get hung up to much about MPG (unless it's really low) just enjoy your new motor. Nice motor the,
C class coupe. :D

Welcome- as others the MPG is always pinch of salt, that said yours does seem low, there were some software updates many folks on here had which seemed to cause this?

Hello and welcome. Sounds a bit low to me, I used to get those sort of figures out of my E Class Coupe with the 3 litre diesel engine. Are your tyre pressures correct?
