So... I bought a 2007 320 cdi CLS last Feb. It had 127k on it then, bought from reputable dealer which he took in px. Its currently on 140k.
Since purchase I have had to rectify the following. In chronological order....
Rear near side window regulator, new rear tyres,
Gbox cooling pipes as we're leaking,. Whole new gbox oil fill. Broke down car in limp mode, recovered to MB specialist. Found engine mounts collapsed causing engine to twist and damage new oil cooling gbox pipes to stretch and fail dumping 7 ltrs of new gbox oil out of box. 2 new engine mounts, 7 ltrs oil. Sounds like a bag of spanners when returned. Taken back assured it was fine. (This is a years worth of issues to date). Driving, red light on battery issue, steering gone. Managed to get it into my street opened bonnet. Serp belt is now a birds nest. Alternator end cap stuffed and sized grabbed belt and stripped it. Next.... hit pot hole, snapped front nearside spring!, changed front pads while I fixed this. Rear discs and pads shot. Removed caliper, pads, discs, found shoes destroyed! Swapped out discs and pads left shoes for another day, as I don't use footbrake.
Drove 10 miles, brakes smoking. Calipers siezed. New calipers ordered today. The saga continues......

Probably replaced rear tyres 4 times in a year, (they were cheap ones though) fronts twice. Never had to spend so much on a car before. But what do you do, you've invested so much into it ya can't move it on. Even though ya know you should haha! Anyone else had any of these issues with this lovely motor?

Hello and welcome

Most of the issues you’ve had are regular maintenance items that need servicing and replacement.

Reading through that list it seems they are mostly wear and tear, time rated things that need doing, thrown in with a few mishaps.

Btw if you have gone through 2 tyre sets and covered 13K miles total, what are you putting on them, butter

Welcome to the forum. do stick around.

Brakes, tyres, engine mounts, auxiliary drive belts, gearbox oil are all normal wear and tear on a 14 year old car. Sounds like you unfortunately just got caught because the previous owner(s) skimped on maintenance.

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome buddy , as above it sounds like the previous owner ”timed” his trade in to perfection . Hopefully you will now be sorted

You've had a very unfortunate experience with your car. Fortunately they're not all like this and my experience of Mercs is that they're generally pretty good. Regular tlc helps as already suggested.

Hi Ben, welcome, I think you may have been a bit unlucky but buying a 14 year old car with that mileage is always going to be a bit of a gamble. The good thing is you still seem to like the car :)
