Hello everyone - I'm not exactly a newbie as i bought a C220D in 2004 and ran it without problems until i sold it in 2011. However I'm after a bit of advice. I'm thinking of buying an E-Class with a budget of approx 25k (so it wont be new). What I'm looking for is a mile eater that will be used for travelling back to the UK to see family and travelling to Italy for holidays. I'm thinking E250 estate - what would you do?

Have a read up of all things adblue problems would be my first advice .
What sort of mileage are you thinking of buying at and running up to ?

Welcolme if you can afford the E350CDI then go for it. I have had one since 2012 & toured all over Europe in it.

Only a 25k budget, puts my 05 Money Pit out of your range ..............

Another vote for the E350. It’s a tried and tested workhorse. A 4cyl has no place in such a car.

Better still, for those sort of distances, I’d get a Lexus GS450. Porsche Panamera/ Cayenne as two further alternatives I’d rather have over an E.
