Hi everyone! It’s a pleasure to E- meet you all.
I bought an E55 AMG pre 1995 from my dad who has now immigrated. It’s a 5 seater, dark blue with black and red leather interior
This car holds an exceptional place in my heart- I love her dearly: she took me to school, to work and then eventually when I bought her took me to numerous universities and schools and then my full time work.
This car isn’t just a machine to us, but represents fulfilment of dreams, ambitions, fun itself and FREEDOM!
Let’s face it- we love to drive, or we would t be here on this site. We love the mechanics that r calibrated to work in perfect harmony and create motion- moreover, we love it when you press the pedal and something happens- my partners Ford Fiesta seems to take its time filling out risk assessments and the like before moving at all!
The reason I tell you this is I need your help as fellow Mercedes’ enthusiast’s I apologise to introduce myself with ‘help me’ but I need input in order to help me hold onto my freedom.
The Merc needs brand new secondary catalytic converters left AND right. If I can secure those I can continue with more remedial works. Merc company no longer creates these parts (I called).
Does anyone know where I can buy/ build these parts? Has anyone faced the same issue? I see from this sight it is something often stolen
I am so grateful to anyone who has read this far- but it’s very important.

What year is your E55? The V8 M113 5.5 came out in ‘97 prior to that in ‘95 was the V6 E36 3.6 in 210 chassis

Perhaps look at suppliers of sports cats if you can't get OEM?

As above, look for 200 cell sports cats if you can't get hold of any OEM ones.
A decent exhaust fabricator will be able to weld them into place.

I had a later W211 E55 and just removed the secondary cats. The car should still pass its MOT as the secondary cats don't affect the emission figures.
You could also open up your existing cats at the top, gut them and reweld them if you want to show them in place. Again, emissions will pass.

Welcome Rochelle, sounds like you have a real emotional bond with your Dad's car, and why not! Well done for wanting to keep it going and enjoy it, as for your secondary cats, both of mine went earlier this year, had two sports cats fitted and they are superb!! Do not go for cheap ones though, mine were £400 each and have a lifetime warranty along with the exhaust system too, do a bit of research of suppliers in your area who have a good reputation for supply and fit high quality parts, do this and you will not go wrong, best of luck,
