Sounds like the pedestrian protection system deployed.

I think that's a dealer / Indie job...

Welcome - as above, this will need to be reset by someone with the proper Mercedes systems

and no its not serious.
Serious is when you splattered the deer and you flew off the road writing off your motor, mowing down a pedestian in the process you both ending up in hospital.

If you hit a kerb hard enough to pop the bonnet up, you need to get the steering / suspension checked out too.

Thanks all for taking the time really appreciate it was gonna go through the insurance but might now just get it repaired myself
