Hi Ive got a dilema

I have seen a 1998 clk 230 auto for a good deal, under 100k mileage however the owner says it slips out of gear.
I woould like to replace the gearbox with a reconditioned gear, i reckon i can do this for about a grand,

is this adviseable?

also is the insurance category cheaper?

A good indie should be able to this for under that.

There is a mod, and that is to replace the first gear shaft with modified gear and spacers, should be better than a re con box as it will be up to date
