Amg a class 2016 2.0
Hi everyone, knew to this group & joined as I’m in some need of advice, I got my a class a couple of weeks before lockdown, I have noticed since then though these marks on every single one of the alloys, can’t get it off when I clean it. I got my car washed the day before lockdown & not sure if it was something in the car wash they used but really struggling to get it off, does anyone have any help on what it could be or how to remove it ??

Also ‍♀️ I washed my car myself a few days ago which i dread already & noticed this marking on the amg badge at the back, again I can’t get this off or even know what it is, if it’s rusts or not, again does anyone have any advice on this please, it’s driving my crazy

thanks !!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum. :) First of all what model A Class have you got there, is it an AMG or an AMG line.

On the first picture you might try a little Brasso or similar to get rid of those marks. Second picture I would need to look at that in the flesh but on the face of it it looks like the lacquer is lifting. Third picture that is not a MB OEM AMG badge. It looks like a cheapo off of Fleabay and the plastic coating is starting to deteriorate. That badge also looks a bit wonky and if that was me I would just take it off because it doesn't look right at all.

Hi, it’s an amg line, I’ll have a try with the brasso, someone had said it could be possible corrosion, but wasn’t 100% sure! I hope it’s not, it was on the car when I got it lol but I’ll look into removing it.

Ahh.....Then it shouldn't have an AMG badge on it anyway, I would just take it off carefully and throw it away. One way of taking it off is by heating the badge with a Hair Dryer and then slide some fishing line behind it. Be careful you don't mark the paint :) Enjoy your drive and the MB experience :)

Hello and welcome

Your second picture has some pretty bad curb rash which has damaged the tyre as well as the alloy.
The AMG badge has been added afterwards and cleaned with some pretty aggressive acid cleaner. Heat it up as per above and fishing line or dental floss will have it off in no time.

Yes, a refurb and check that the tyre is serviceable.

Unfortunately large alloys and small sidewalls suffer badly on the roads we “enjoy” in the UK

Hi and welcome on the forum. Nothing much to add to the advice already given but that tyre certainly doesn’t look too good in the second photo.

Laquer lifting in all cases.
For the badge, either debadge and get new a new badge from the dealer if your so concerned.
One of the wheels has been badly scraped and nicely damaged the tyre, I would think about getting that tyre replaced before the thinking about the cosmetics of the rim. Make sure yoiu have the same tyres across the axle.
If thats a MB approved car, I would try going back and asking them to sort it out, however the gash on the tyre and alloy damage, they could say you caused it.

Actually looking at the "AMG" badge, it steps down and is not level, I have never looked at one close enough to see if thats normal,
My guess is its a cheap aftermarket and poor quality, hence thats why it looks the way it does, Debadge if not original!
