They will usually only play highly reflective copies

2, what do you guys use S or W on the auto box

W is a second gear start, and the car will not roll back on a hill in W

3, do you leave the heater thing on? the swith is in with the ashtray area
The heating is off when the LED is lit

4, do you drive with your star on the bonnet at a layed back angle or erect/

Normally tilted back a touch

5, my temperature did not go above 60 is this ok?
The weather is cold at for the time being, see other post on this

6, i need a new key will i need to go to main dealer?

£200 and MB only

7, seem to be averaging 28 mpg not even driving it hard is this ok, can i do anything to up the mpg?

Not during the cold weather and short runs, but note 5 could affect it

We all love our mercs :D:D

You get more sporty driving in S, thats a first gear start, its up to you, it should be more economical in W.

If you keep the AC off (led lit) then the car will mist up,,99% of us keep it on all of the time.

Hi,
I leave the heater booster on permanently. It is activated automatically below 7 cent and helps heat the cabin as it takes an age without it. They seem to come in two types, mine appears to be the diesel burner type some are based on an electrical element unit.

The only way to check mpg is to take the car for a decent run. A steady 75mph should give you late thirties mpg over 50 miles or so. I have seen in better weather conditions 46 max mpg on slow A roads over a 50 mile distance. The worst tends to be around 25-28mpg (unless you live in London).

If the gearbox oil hasn't been changed this should be a priority. Do a search on auto gearbox oil changes for info. Only use Merc trans fluid and use somebody who knows what they are doing (good indie or specialist).

The engine temp at this time of year is typical re your readings

I prefer the 'W' setting as the box seems to operate more smoothly and with all that grunt 1st gear seems somewhat redundant

CD multichanger in the boot is best

The ignition key is merc supply only with proof of ownership required

Hope this helps!

Just a quick point on Kirkyboys post.

Is the CD player standard fit or aftermarket?
Most newer players will spin copied CD's and play them.
My Blaupunkt boot changer is as old as the car and also has no problems with them.
If it's a single-shot in-dash player use an air blower (can) to clean the laser lens. Some players appear less tolerant of copied discs.

Hope this helps, DoverSole

I left my IL6 in W and my V6 in C (although as that is won't go above 3rd at the moment I won't mention that one).

I used to keep the heater booster on and on the new on cannot switch it off.
