Drove to dumfries to collect the wife's new car (a little vw polo) and on the way back my third brake light decided to blow a few lights. Shes now missing 3 leds on the back, it looks like she has teeth missing. anyhow is it worth trying the repair the faulty leds or best to purchase a new unit.?

I‘d have it apart and fix the broken connections, as it will most likely just require a bit of soldering.

“Dumb-Fries” as Theo calls it - beware of that A75 the lorry drivers take no prisoners and the overtaking is psycho

Well as long as your wifes complaining it means she is happy.

Re the break light if you handy with a continiuty meter and soldering iron give it a go, but it could be fiddily in there and when soldering you may loosen good connections due to the heat transfer.

Less hassle is replacing, they are not expensive.

Dean, if your car is a w212, and assuming that you are doing the job yourself, could you take a pic of the cable feeding the 3rd brake light? I'm trying to identify the cable to use it to connect to a trailer which is not recognising the so called smart universal relay. Thanks if you can manage it
