Get somebody to have a good look over it, just for your own piece of mind.
They all drive ok till something goes wrong!

How much are they asking for it as It already has a few issues - non working mileometer and a manual gearbox. Tell them you will do them a favour and save them having to pay the scrappy to take it away ;)

Walk away forget it.
No history, its manual you want auto with a merc.
I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

Price not bad, but lack of history and 'broken' odometer should have set alarm bells ringing. Can not recommend such a purchase unless £3900 is an amount you don't mind writing off if need be.

Glass' go from £3,140 to £4,050 with 120K miles. So if the car is otherwise decent it may be worth a test drive at least.

This is a great site for second-hand Mercs from loads of Merc dealers, Independents and so on: -

I'm with Jensen and others steer well clear. Manuals have often been used as cabs or doing mega miles on the airport runs to Heathrow and Gatwick.

Unless you love risk and don't mind bills go for Full SH and better still FMBSH.

Over 90% of E's and C's in UK are auto because Merc autos are so good and because manual makes no sense with a foot operated parking brake (imagine a few hill starts). Look for auto and you get nine times more choice. I pass on what an experienced owner told me when looking for my first one: If there's no service history, it's dear - whatever the price! Good luck.:)

If it is in good nick and FSH, could be a good price. Nice condition is always worth that bit more, as I'm sure you'll agree. Good luck with her. Auto or manual by the way??:)
