Thinking of getting a P reg S500 LWD.

it seems in good condition, but its got 140k miles on it.

How do these cope with high mileages?

whats it worth?

creamish leather, Alpine gear, 18" alloys, private plate etc.

thanks.

Can't tell you what it's worth but that mileage looks fine to me - it's only a bit over the (very low) allowed average. Works out at what - 14/15 thou a year?

Just get it checked. The v8 is low revving so should be fine in theory but at this age/mileage maintenance history is critical. A loved one will go forever, a neglected one can be a frightening money pit.

That's not high mileage !!!

My 300TE-24 has 425,000 documented miles on it and still runs like new .

Let us know how you get on . I am also keen on the W140 S500L but I don't know much about them. My w124 is great but I would like something bigger but with similar grunt and quality. I might go for a lower mileage one just so the interior is a bit more pristine.
A good time to bargain as well I reckon as petrol prices edge up!

I only bought the car back in April , but the one previous owner had it serviced from new by the supplying dealer (Mercedes-Benz of Glasgow) , last done in January . It has given me no problems .

I bought the car out of a scrappie , where it had ended up after being traded in and being put out to the trade . Somewhere along the line , the mileage had been altered so that it was only showing 168K when I bought it and I only discovered the truth upon speaking to the previous owner and the dealer who printed out the missing history .

I didn't get any invoices , but the only 'major' thing it seems to have had was a new engine at 370,000 miles last year . Otherwise the history just shows all the usual service stuff : tyres , brakes , exhausts , batteries etc.

The car is well known to the staff in the dealership who told me it never wanted for anything being done .

Alas , I can't afford to keep up the MBSH , so it will be serviced by myself , only going to Merparts in Port Glasgow for the few jobs that are beyond me .
