High Mileage SLK 55 AMG

Hi there, I'm looking to buy an SLK55 AMG in the near future.

One of the ones I am considering is a 2005 model with 100k miles on the clock.

Another one is a 2007 model that has done 63k miles - this is about £3000 more expensive.

I was wondering is it worth buying the higher mileage car and using the £3k saved to run it or would this be a false economy, and it would be better to pay more for the car with less miles?

M113 Engines and the associated 7 speed are bullet proof.

Just check the condition of rear subframe, as these are starting to rust through. At the moment MB are replacing them but its not likely to continue forever.

100k miles is not high mileage for an engine like the M113. High mileage is 300k+

Crazy when the tax on my10 years newer (2017) SL400 is under £300.

Because manufacturers modified the emissions to meet the new requirements. Later SLK55’s are also £300 cheaper

SLK 55 and clio 182 same tax bracket

Edit: R172 SLK55! Not the R171

Seems unfair, there was also a premium on my car because it cost over 40k but I managed to get it registered before that kicked in although, I only collected the car a month later.

To close out the thread I have decided to buy the best one I could afford and put a deposit down on this one, hope you like it! The garage confirmed that the subframe was replaced by Mercedes Benz last year, so no worries there.
