Tough cars. There are two 202's in my office carpark, And not creampuffs either - both are still used in our winters as daily drivers.

My 202 is currently on 213,000... Im trying to see how far it will go... Shame i expect the body to rust away around it before it gets and decent milage

I was at a trade fair a few years ago in Cologne and Mercedes Benz were showing an ancient E Class that was used as a Taxi in Mexico with over a million Ks on the clock, there was a very slight dent in the rear bumper, I was quite shocked at this display of shoddy workmanship.

Don't know if they still do it but you used to see, in France, MBs with a gold star on the radiator denoting 500k kms. I once saw one with to gold stars and he said he had done 1 mn kms on the original engine. E class from the eighties, 3 litre diesel IIRC.

In London, I rode in an MB 230 petrol E class being used as a minicab and he had done over 300k miles on the original engine but was about to go for an overhaul.

On a US forum a guy with a G wagon claims to have done 600k miles and says he needed a new gearbox at 500k.

My old e300d had had its clocks changed at 360,000 (ex taxi) and four years later had over 180,000 on the replacement. Drove fine once it had started on the one working glow plug.

My w201 had about 300,000 on the clock if I recall correctly.

You often see the foreign e class taxis with ridiculous mileage; they but them in threes and operate them around the clock in 8 hour shifts.

Whilst not being the highest (by far) my 1983 230TE 123 had 185,000 on the clock when I sold it. I'd owned it for 20 years. It was then taken to Africa,,, to be used as a taxi !

It was a solid chunk of car,,,, i'd love to think it was still going strong out there.
