dear list , hi this is my first posting to the forum. have had a e320 cdi estate from almost new for the past two & half years. Generally very pleased with the car until my 3 yr old daughter deceided to put a couple of coins in the CD unit!!
Took the car into a surrey dealership to be told that the cd rom drive was damaged by the coins and that as this was a sealed unit it would cost £2,500 +vat and labour to replace it. All this despite the fact that both the phone and the radio and rear multichager all still work.

"Goodness me", ithought, or words to that effect, that's a lot of money. I discussed this with the service manager who was friendly but adamant that there was little alternativeas it is a sealed unit.

Can any kind list member suggest a less expensive course of action to solve this problem. I thought about going to an independant garage to do the repair or possibly get the replacement part( No 210 8205489/80) from a breakers yard or some other alternative source.

Any help or suggestions gratefully received .

kind regards

Nick.

I would check on E Bay.
There always appears to be no end of ICE kit for late Mercedes.
Just try searching for Command or the model number.

He also has a web site
www.MBenz.NL

He is in Holland, comes here and to the USA regularly to post fit Comands, sells reconditioned ones and I think also repairs them.

I second this option. Steve's a good chap, and really knows his stuff.
