Hot and bothered in my W203

I have a C180K on an 03 plate. But it's the early 03 which has the cassette radio and no air con. My problem is with the blowers that supposedly cool the car down.

What I have is the two temperature knobs that can control each side of the car down to 18 degrees C. But that's the problem, they are not cooling the car down. On a hot day they blow hot air at me. Thats just not funny anymore.

Can it be gassed like air con in order make it more effficient? I need the cooling system to work as I anticipate at least another two or even three days when I might need it this year.

Your car has aircon!!

All Merc have aircon from way back. What you dont have is Climate control..

It seems as that your aircon needs regassing. MB are having a summer special at the moment, check out your locxal dealership.

Oh! Thanks for that information.

But there is no AC or EC button like in all the other cars I have had. Just a fan strength dial, a direction dial and the two temperature controls

Yes needs regas. About £65 at local aircon garage including leak tests. My C180 has the same two control setup with aircon and needed regas last year.

My set up does not look like the one above.

It has not got the 'AUTO' button or the 'AC' Button as pictured.

Is it imported?

Sometimes they have different specs and something such as aircon may not be standard.

As far a I know ALL 203 cars have aircon..

Around the middle of 2002, MB brought out the W203 Classic SE, which had most of the bits of the previous Classic (including aircon), plus a few other bits such as cheap alloys etc.

This allowed them to lower the spec of the base W203 Classic, it lost aircon. It was a deliberate exercise to reduce the entry price of the W203. I don't know how long this lasted, but before long they all had aircon again.

It is therefore possible that a 2003 W203 has no aircon.
