Hiya,
I have a 126 500SEC which has recently started cutting out after a half hours drive or when it reaches normal temperature (just above 80ish). When I try to restart it just turns over and doesn't even catch! The only way to restart is to let it cool then it runs fine as if nothing happened.
Distrobutor and rotor arm is good,HT leads are good, spark plugs are good and fuel pump is good (I can hear it on ignition).
I've read on this forum about the fuel pump relay which i'm going to try and do tomorrow but how does the relay bugger up, is it the heat from the engine?
I've also read that it could be a crankshaft position sensor, how does this effect it?
Also I've been told to bridge points 87 & 30 together on fuel pump relay to see if it cuts out when hot! Is this a good idea?
Any pointers would be good as I plan to take this car on a long trip down south in a few weeks so would like to get it sorted before hand.
Thanks
