hi all, now that the heater blower motor issue is resolved i need to lower the volume level of the diesel engine within the car (if possible)

i was thinking of buying some matting that I could place around the front of the car to 'absorb' the sound, is there such a thing and what is it called ? oh, and does it work or am I wasting my time/money ?

reminder, this car is a 1966 W110 (pictured below in the link in my sig)

cheers

Does it have under bonnet insulation already?

Suggest buying some Dynamat and attaching to the underside of the bonnet. You can get especially impregnated matting for under bonnet use

Yes the material used must be dense enough to absorb sound and stop resonance.

The big car stores in Sweden sell it in different forms

"Ljud dampning" for Swedish,. the boat firms are also good as its used to dampen the sound on boat engines, so you have plenty to choose from in Sweden
